deadRingers (dR) was established in 2004 as a Counter-Strike 1.6 team providing some of the safest and most popular public game servers in the Western region of North America. Noticing a lot of the talented players drawn to our game servers, we eventually started leveraging them as scouting grounds, inviting certain players to join us for scrimmage sessions that could lead to them being extended an invite to join our ranks. dR competed in 8 seasons of CS 1.6 league play before retiring as a team and transitioning into a casual gaming community.
While dR is mostly dormant these days, there is the occassional pop-up game server and ongoing careful consideration about how we can continue to stay involved in and contribute to the broader gaming community. An example of this is the initial framework that dR Founder docseid (doc) has established for a movement called Game in Peace (
gameinpeace.org), which takes some of what we strived for in our past game servers and attempts to make it boundless.
When, where, and how dR's presence/participation in gaming will next be seen is unknown, but the spirit remains...
